Cookie Policy
Last updated: (Europe/Paris)
This Cookie Policy describes how The Phoenix Deals (“we”, “us”) uses cookies and similar technologies on thephoenixdeals.com. We rely on a small number of cookies to keep the site secure, remember your consent choices, and—only with your permission—run privacy-friendly analytics.
1) Why we use cookies
- Deliver a fast and secure browsing experience (load balancing, abuse prevention).
- Remember whether you granted analytics consent so we only show the banner when needed.
- Measure aggregated traffic and improve content (Google Analytics 4, disabled by default).
- Support affiliate disclosures (for example, Amazon stores its own tracking tags after you click a link).
2) Cookies we set directly
- Essential / site operations: cookies or localStorage created by our hosting provider (Netlify) to keep the site stable and secure.
- Consent preference: the
consent_analyticskey stored in your browser so we know if analytics should stay disabled or be enabled. - Analytics (optional): Google Analytics 4 cookies (e.g.,
_ga) which only load after you click “Accept analytics”. They help us understand aggregated trends and are configured with IP anonymization.
3) Your consent controls
By default, only essential cookies run and analytics is blocked. You can change your choice anytime through the buttons below or the banner that appears until you make a selection.
Removing site data in your browser resets the preference and the banner will reappear on your next visit.
4) Third-party cookies & affiliate tags
Some links redirect to merchants such as Amazon. When you click them, those merchants may set their own cookies to attribute sales or remember your settings. Their tracking is governed by their respective privacy and cookie policies. We label outbound affiliate links with rel="sponsored" and open them in a new tab for transparency.
Google Analytics 4 only starts collecting after you grant consent. We request IP anonymization, limited data retention, and aggregated reports.
5) Retention & expiration
- consent_analytics: stored in localStorage until you delete it or clear browser data.
- GA4 cookies: respect Google’s retention settings (currently 14 months) and are removed if you withdraw consent.
- Netlify security cookies: short-lived and used only to protect the service.
6) Manage cookies via your browser
- Clear browsing data/cache to remove stored cookies or localStorage keys.
- Block analytics cookies entirely via your browser’s privacy settings or dedicated extensions.
- Use private/incognito windows when you prefer a fresh session without stored preferences.
